TDISPLAY 1.2, Shareware by TRINITY COMMUNICATIONS
TDISPLAY may be downloaded from a number of Bulletin Boards and information
services, including the MG Marketing International BBS (801-943-4616) and
Compuserve.
The TDISPLAY shareware consists initially of the file TDSP12.ZIP.
This is a compressed file which can be decompressed using PKUNZIP.EXE from
PKWARE. Copy TDSP12.ZIP to the directory of your choice, and decompress it
with the command PKUNZIP TDSP12 [enter]. When decompressed, the following
files will be created:
TDISPMAN.EXE: The TDISPLAY manual, which is a self-displaying
text file created with TDISPLAY. To read it,
type TDISPMAN [enter] at the prompt.
TDISPLAY.EXE: The TDISPLAY executable file which you use to
create a self-displaying text file.
TDISPLAY.COD: The TDISPLAY code which is attached to your
text file to enable it to display itself.
TDISPDEF.EXE: The executable file you use to set TDISPLAY's defaults.
Running TDISPDEF creates a customized defaults file
called TDISPLAY.DEF.
README.DIS: This file.
REGISTER.TXT: The registration form.
CORRECTIONS:
The printed version of the manual fails to mention the self-displaying
version of the manual, which was created with TDISPLAY. This file is
called TDISPMAN.EXE. To view the manual on screen, type:
TDISPMAN [enter]
at the DOS prompt.
FILE STRUCTURE:
Also, the byte figures at the end of the manual indicating the structure
of a self-displaying file are outdated. The correct figures are:
1. 13,976 bytes of executable code
2. 21 bytes of default information
3. 21 bytes for the password string
4. The original ASCII text.
COLORS WHEN SETTING THE DEFAULTS WITH TDISPDEF.EXE:
When using TDISPDEF.EXE, if the screen background color is the same as
one of the foreground color options in a list of numbered options,
that foreground color choice will appear to be missing from the list.
Instead, you'll see a gap in the list. That color may still be selected
by typing its number (a number one greater than the preceding choice
in the list, or one less than the following choice). This will usually
only be a problem when selecting the foreground color for the key
display bar at the top or bottom of the screen.
NEW FEATURE IN VERSION 1.2
If the printer on LPT1 is not ready when you invoke the Alt-P hot-key
(to print the self-displaying text file), TDISPLAY now issues an
error message and allows you to correct the problem.
NEW FEATURES IN VERSION 1.1
TDISPLAY now allows you to insert the formfeed character in text files to
force page breaks when printing. The formfeed character is byte 12, and is
inserted in some text editors as ^L.
TDISPLAY now supports both the Ctrl-PgUp / Ctrl-PgDn keys and the Home / End
keys to go to the start or end of the file, respectively. Home and End are
listed on the user key line.
A bug which caused self-displaying files to crash when the text files
were smaller than one screen and PgUp was invoked, has been fixed.
REGISTRATION NOTE:
You are free to try TDISPLAY for 30 days. After that time, if you wish
to continue using it, you must register TDISPLAY and pay the $39.00
registration fee. See TDISPMAN for details on the benefits and methods
of registration.
